 Best Practice Building Domain Controller’s
I am currently running a network with 1, 2003 DC. I made a mistake (I believe) when building it. I made my domain "mydomain.COM" instead of "mydomain.temp" or something like that. Here is my question: I am planning to move to Server 2008 soon. How hard would it be to build the domain again the correct way?

Answer Wiki:
Get the domain rename tools from Microsoft and simply rename the windows domain. We did this shortly before we upgraded our domain from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 (we do still have the Windows 2003 DCs however).

You do not have to redo the domain name; there are many businesses with internal domain named the same as their public identity. Are you experiencing problems with accessing your public web site? What problem are you trying to solve by changing your domain name? If you really really really want to rename the domain, then Mrdenny is correct, get the Windows 2003 Domain Rename and Windows 2003 Domain Rename Documentation

You probably should open a new question. You might be asking about general internet domains, but it’s not clear. More info is needed. However, it doesn’t seem to relate directly to this question thread.
