Hello! I have and old client-server application written in Visual Basic 6. My database is MySQL 4.0. It has 10 concurrent clients under the same LAN. I need to make a new android application to run on tablets. The new app must connect via Mobile Internet to my old client-server application (or another layer to forward the tablet's requests?). The number of tablets is about 300. The android application will send some data (up to 10KB each tablet, each time) at any time or many times consecutively and I have to forward them to the VB6 app for processing. It is possible to have concurrent transmits from many tablets. Which way is the best to choose: Connect the tablets via VPN directly to a server application listening to the tablets and pushing the data to the VB6 app? Make a web service and send the data from tablets there and then the VB6 app catch the data from the web service? What else? Notice that the database server is at the same place with the LAN! Any suggestion is appreciated! Thank you in advance!
