Because of an I/O device error

Hi..I am trying to create partition that which has been not using since 8 months. It is showing unallocated 467 GB. When I'm trying to allocate space, but it is showing error like this: The request could not be performed because an I/O device error. Can anyone please tell me... please save my hard disk.
Sorry about my mistakes...I couldn't speak properly.

    Hi..I am trying to create partition that which has been not using since 8 months......?.Unable to understand your question.Are you creating partitions in Windows OS?.....(You have not mentioned your OS also......)If Yes, then their might be some issue with the hard disk itself..please save my hard disk.........We will not be able to save your hard disk. Better, take it to the vendor..-Ketan
