 Battery power source
what is the smallest battery source that i can use to support a device much like an old beeper and a green LED. The beeper only works once or twice per year 4 times at the most, the green LED will be used fulltime. The battery source can not be rechargeable, and cheaper is better

You might want to look at the one like this <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Battery-UPVL-X-Smoke-Detector/dp/B00004W3ZE">battery</a> it is designed to last 10years in a smoke alarm. The always-on aspect of an LED, even if it is drawing minimal power (around 5 mA) will still place a drain on the battery. If your circuit will allow, try setting up a flasher, that will illuminate the LED on briefly at long intervals, similar to <a href="http://www.reprise.com/host/circuits/flasher.asp"> this one </a> Good Luck! -Flame
