 Trouble installing SQL Server 2005
I have installed SQL2005 as default instance on a server that already has 2000 as the default. how can I remove sql2005 safely and reinstall 2005 as a named server.

You've just upgraded the default instance from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. If you need the default instance as SQL 2000 you'll need to uninstall SQL 2005 then reinstall 2000. Then restore the databases from the most recent SQL 2000 backups. Then you can install SQL 2005 as a named instance.
