CAN A WINDOWS 7 PRO BACKUP BE RESTORED TO A WINDOWS XP MACHINE?

Software/Hardware used:
Compaq SR1320NX running windows 7 pro backed up into an external drive. Can I restore it to a windows XP system?

If it is an XP box and you want to install a Windows 7 backup, I would ask one major question, hardware…  Can the XP system hardware handle the software of Windows 7, especially in a backup.  If it is the minimum requirements for XP, I do not see it working at all.  So, you need to answer that question first before even trying to install the backup of Windows 7 onto the system.

    Backup means what kind of backups..... is it system file backup / general file or folders backups ! If u want to run some SW backup/ setup(like exe/setup file)  in XP may be question will arise some compatibility issue. If they r general file/ folders hope it will run. XP and 7 the architecture or core built-in mechanisms are different from each other. It is best to navigate MS Web and run compatibility checks.
