I'm having a big problem with BrightStor ARCserver Backup 9.0.
I tried for few days to make a full system backup (c: - e: - System
State - System Registry) of my Windows 2003 Server (Domain controller with
Active Directory).
Every Time the backup is incomplete, because BrightStor skip these files:
- Skip Registry Hive C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorImpostazioni
localiDati applicazioniMicrosoftWindowsUsrClass.dat. (use System State)
- Skip Registry Hive C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorNTUSER.DAT.
(use System State)
- Skip Registry Hive C:Documents and
SettingsAdministrator.INT-xxxxxxImpostazioni localiDati
applicazioniMicrosoftWindowsUsrClass.dat. (use System State)
- Skip Registry Hive C:Documents and
SettingsAdministrator.INT-xxxxxxNTUSER.DAT. (use System State)
Why BrightStor skip these files? It doesn't backup the files in use?
Sorry for my not perfect english.
Thank you

It might be best to set up ArcServe on a separate backup server (if not already done) and back up the target server (target server being “ON” but “LOGGED OFF” as stated above). This should resolve your issue.
To answer you second question, Arcserve will not back up open/in use files unless the open file agent is added…
You must select system state in the backup specification, the files skipped are part of the registry and most be backed up with the system state option.
Or schedule the backup to be performed with your user logged off!
