I'm running Symantec Backup Exec 11d on Server 2003 Standard, and Exchange 2007 on Server 2003 R2 x64. When I try to Enable individual mailbox message restore I get a Successful backup with the following exception: "To support individual mailbox message and folder restores from Information Store backups, you must download and install the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects package version 06.05.7888 or later on the Exchange 2007 server. This package can be found on the Microsoft web site" I uninstalled and reinstalled the MAPI/CDO with reboots but continue to get the same msg. When I go to restore a mailbox it actually shows them, but does not allow the restore. How do I get past this so I can backup and restore indivual mailboxes and messages?

I called Symantec. He said BE is too small a product and tech support is not included as part of the license. It would cost me $250 for them to help me.
Well that just stinks. I wish I had experience with BE, we use NetBackup, so I can’t be of any assistance with this one unfortunately. We do have a support agreement with the product though so we do not pay for each support call.
We have many small customers running various versioins of BE including Symantec Backup Exec 11d and have never had Symantec tell us this. You do have to purchase support on a yearly bases. However, there are versions os BE that come free with hardware (e.g. Sony tape drive) that DOES NOT include support from Symantec. There are various levels of support that you can purchase, at various cost. We usually sell the cheapest version, only week day, normal business hours support. Our small customers do not need 24/7 support.
Where did you get your Symantec Backup Exec 11d? Have you maintained the support contract? We just renewed a customer BE for SBS, for about $80. However, if they had let the support contract expire, then the cost would have been an upgrade price which is around $250, considering the full price is about $600.
As for your problem, have you looked at this http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/287332.htm
and the related documents on the bottom. And then let us know what happens.
Good luck
Thank you for the info Dwiebesick, I thought it was an odd response they got from Symantec. Your details on the licensing/support are very helpful indeed!
