Answer Wiki:
As per the Backup Exec 9.1 Administrators guide (page 844): "The 64-bit Remote Agent has the following limitations: ? Can be installed only on 64-bit Intel Itanium and Itanium 2 computers running the Windows Server 2003 family or Windows XP 64-bit Edition. ? Cannot be push installed. A local installation of the Remote Agent on the 64-bit computer is required. ? Supports only the VERITAS Volume Snapshot Provider (VSP) and Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) when used with the Advanced Open File Option. ? Does not support the Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option (IDR). See ?Disaster Preparation and Recovery? on page 549. The procedures for recovery are the same for 32-bit and 64-bit computers." This version of Backup Exec only supports Intel Itanium and Itanium 2 64-bit CPU's. You will need to upgrade to a newer version of Backup Exec to support x86-64 (AMD and Intel EMT64 64-bit) CPU's.
