As with all files, you should open it with the application (or product) that created the file. We don't know how you created it. . Tom

AWD stands for At Work Document, it is a Microsoft Fax file & probably it is created in Windows'98 OS. It can be viewed on "PolyView" a small tool / SW, which can dnld from net. If u will face problem to dnld/ install/ open .awd file another way u can try..... 1st locate the program called "awdvstub.exe" which is under Windows XP installer cd/dvd..... (the file may be i386\win9xmig\fax folder) now convert the .awd file into .tif format and converting u can open it easily.

    .
That is one the many possibilities.
    .
It might also be an Artweaver Document file. Or it might be an Award BIOS Update File, in which case it could be risky playing around with it. Or it could be an awk source file, or essentially anything at all since multiple products use a .AWD file extension..
    .
If we don't actually have the file to look at, we can't know what it is. We can't even be sure that the file belongs to the OP if the OP doesn't know what the file is. It might be a file found on a stolen laptop or picked up from anywhere.
