Hi: I am creating a bilingual (english/french) database wherein I need to have the french controls automatically filled when I choose an english term from a dropdown list in the correspopnding english control. Example: I have a list of terms in a combo box control (named 'domain') containing the term 'knowledge'. When I select this term, I would like to insert the corresponding french term 'connaisance' in a different control (named 'domaine'). I've tried macros, IIf statements, and queries - all to no avail. I would certainly appreciate any advice or tips on how to do this. Thanks so much.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

In your table containing the English words, make another column containing the corresponding French words. Set the properties to display the French word when you select the English word from your drop-down menu. This is what I’ve done in one of my databases; When I select a generic drug name I display the trade name.

Thank you JuJu. I had already done that and that does work. The problem remains that I cannot get the french term to come up in a different field control, i.e., In drop down combo box in control #1, (which has the row source property set to a table containing both french and english terms as you indicated), I choose “knowledge”. How do I get the french term “connaisance” to display automatically in control #2 when I select “knowledge” in control #1?
