 Autocomplete in Outlook
Hi everybody, All of a sudden, autocomplete email address in outlook 2000 feature is not working for one of our users. The option is already checked in outlook although it is not functioning. I tried to delete and recreate the profile for this user. I have tried to find some information on the net, the .NK2 file was mentioned. I did not find this file in the user's folder. We are working with SBS2000. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance

Answer Wiki:
You should check first if autocomplete is configured correctly in Outlook. This can be accomplished by going to the tools menu, select options, and then select the email options button on the preferences page. Once there, select the advanced email options button and on the next popup window consider all of the options. Make sure that automatic name checking and suggest names while completing To, CC, and BCC fields. You mention the .NK2 file, and if it is not present then for some reason the clients file might have been deleted. If you have a backup of this file, there is an article for copying it at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011394511033.aspx Hopefully this answers your question.

I recommend you run the repair utility for Outlook 2000 from the help menu. This has resolved many issues for me.

NK2 is a “hidden” system file. Please make sure that you have the ability to see all hidden files when you do the search. I have often found and deleted a corrupt NK2 file-Outlook will recreate another if the Outlook settings are correct
