How do I open an email attachment?

Answer Wiki

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Most attachments open by simply clicking (or double-clicking) on them. This may differ if you are dealing with an unusual file type – if you need more assistance, please specify the file extension on the attachment.

Depends on the attachment. You may need a specific program to open it. What type of attachment is it?

Browser add -ons can open an attachment directly in a browser, if related add-ons is installed. Though, as asked earlier, attachment type and browsers (like IE/ FF/ Chrome or any other) is an important.

Just double- click the attachment in the header of the e-mail where you see it listed. Then it depends on the type of file extension...
    Examples
If it has a .PDF extension you need Arcobat Reader or something similar. If it has a .DOCX or XLSX extension you need you need Office 2010 or Open Office. A lot of music and videos will open with Windows Media player. A file with a .MOV may need Apple Quicktime.....
