Plugging directly to AS400 won&#039;t work just as it wouldn&#039;t work on a PC.

You&#039;ll need to assign a static IP to the printer and subnet. 
Then on your AS400 ensure you&#039;re not using your primary NIC. Use a secondary NIC and assign an static IP and same subnet to match the printer and varyon/activate the NIC.

The AS400 should be able to PING the IP of the printer, if so go ahead and configure the printer on the AS400. 

Seriously though, fix your network before you worry about printing.]]></description>
