Hi,

You can probably start by saving and deleting journal receivers. Deleting old spooled files – you can also try a RCLSPLSTG to reclaim spool storage. Save and clear the QRPLOBJ library. Save and delete QSYS/QHST* files.

This should help you get started.

Regards,

Martin Gilbert.

Look for
1. database files in developer libraries and size of developer libraries
2. mutli-member databases with obsolete members
3. large database files with a lot of deleted records – rgzpfm, this requires exclusive lock on database.

If you are running performance tools, they can start to build up objects in library QPFRDATA. We are running iSeries Navigator - a great tool, which sometimes leaves old performance data, that looks like this: Object Type Size QPMJ22T004 *DTAQ 17850368 QPMJ22T973 *DTAQ 17850368 QPMJ23T002 *DTAQ 17850368

Oops . . . hit the enter key to soon on the message about QPFRDATA. If you do decide to delete the *DTAQ objects, be sure they are from a prior period. There may be a group of them with today's date - those should be left as is. Also check for objects associated with permanently installed PTFs. Those objects can be deleted. If you are running Ops Nav (iSeries Navigator) it has an option that makes clean up pretty easy.
