Hi all,

My DB is on AS/400 and I use Microsoft Access to run queries. However, whenever I try to run an update query, I receive the following error message:

"[IBM][ISeries Access ODBC Driver][DB2 UDB]SQL7008 - table in library not valid for operation. (#-7008)"

Any idea what is missing? Thanks in advance!

It has been a while since I've used MS Access to update a table/file on AS/400, but I seem to remember that to UPDATE a file (like via an update query), the file on the AS/400 has to have a unique key.

    Check the authority.

You may have read access but not update.

It may also be that it is not translating the data correctly.  Is the database an access database? What format is it in?  I used to use access to query a data base on our AS/400 and I had to remember the data was not stored in ASCII format.  It had to be translated to and from a different format to usable.
