We have an application running in AS/400 system with RPGLE and CLLE programs. Now we have developed a web portal with PHP for some specific tasks and connected to AS/400's DB2/400. The question is user profiles permissions and special authorities in AS/400 will work same, in anyway of accessing the server or there is any other restrictions to be made in the DB level?

It should be based on the profile used to establish the connection. If that login does not have authority to that object it will not be accessible. Check your object authority of any file in question. Use EDTOBJAUT to see what profile and groups may have access… I set the *PUBLIC to *EXCLUDE and removed the *GROUP so mine was the only one with *ALL authority.. I tried 3 different profiles for connecting through my DB2 SQL app and my profile was the only that worked the others returned SQL0551 Not authorized to object TODDPRINT in TODDLIB type *FILE.

I did a similar PHP connection a few years ago and opted to create a new user profile just for that purpose. The UserID could not log in on a normal session (initial menu *signoff). All went well and no security problems.

We have the same thing for our .NET web service connections to our DB2 system. Two profiles one for production and the other for test.  Both profiles have *signoff as initial menu. It's been working fine for years with no issues we are aware of..
