AS400 Upgrade of OS version


AS/400 upgrading

hi everyone
I own an as400 820 but dont have maintenance i have version v5.1 and would like to upgrade to v5.3 will i have to get passwords from ibm for the software i have on the machine ?

The quick answer is no.
Note that upgrading the V5R3 or even V5R4 can be done without a glitch except that after 70 days you're system will become unusable or very very slow since you would have not entered the proper license keys.
