Currently all AS/400 print jobs comes out of their assigned AS/400 printer. I'd like it to be sent to a windows print queue. Has anyone found success in doing so? Please help.

I have set up network printers as both a native System i printer and as a remote outq. If it is a printer, change the default printer or outq to be that printer. If it is a remote outq, set the default outq to be that outq. https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1019605 may be of some help.

We tried something that worked for us. We set the PC printer up using Client Access. It created an outq that we could direct or AS/400 output to so we could print query results at our desk.

Do you want output to go to a queue (and potentially wait until manually released or deleted)? Or is the objective simply to print on a printer somewhere in your Windows network?

@azohawk: our as400 printers are currently communicating with the network printers and are in use. Both Windows and as400 print job utilizes the network printers. We just want to go a step further and throwing the as400 jobs into Windows print queue. The windows print queue has been created already with IP address/port ready for the setup.

@ToddN2000: Thanks for your response. Yes we have something similar in place as well but is uncontrolled once printed. We have 200 staff in a few offices and anyone in the office can pick it up. Also as400 doesn't keep a track record of print spools or print jobs to help us identify who printed a 500 page job.

@TheRealRaven: That is exactly what we're looking for. Currently in the Windows side, we're using a print management software called PaperCut. Users printing from Windows environment would have to walk up to a network printer, swipe their badge, select from the jobs they've printed or select all because the bucket belongs to that very person.
