I am using DELL VOSTRO 1015 Laptop. When I am trying to enter my login ID in the AS400 signon screen it is taking numbers for whatever character / number typed in. For ex: If I typed in 'TTSS' it will enter as 1234, again if I clear it and try to re-enter then it will enter as 5678 like that it is digits 0-9 for each keyword typed in.

Software/Hardware used:
Windows XP , iSeries Client Access

Hi,

The problem with letters to numeric typing is solved. This is due to the other software (anti virus) that is causing Keys in AS400 Session to be typed as Numeric.
This is something related to the Digital Lock created by that software when any key is pressed it will type the sequence of number from 0-9 in the AS400 session. When I un-installed the software everything working normally.

Thank you all for your Answers.

Regards,
Madhu.

Normally, I would say that your laptop has a typewriter-keyboard style with a numeric keypad sharing some of the letter keys. You have the <NumLock> turned on so that the digits are typed whenever you press a letter key that is shared with one of the digits. (You would see the digit printed on the key somewhere.) But you say that typing "TTSS" results in 4 digits. And normally neither the "T" nor the "S" key would be one of the affected keys. Turning <NumLock> off is a possibility. But if that doesn't work, can you give a little more info? Do all letter keys result in digits? Does the same digit appear every time you press the same letter? Tom
