 AS/400 restoring across partitions
I recently got sucked into an AS/400 issue, but know very little about the system so am using manuals to figure things out.(Our sys. admin. left) We've got a server set up with a few partitions. One corresponds to our production partition, another corresponds to our testing partition. They have different user setups but are running the same application. We recently messed up the test partition and now want to wipe out test and put the production backup on to the test partition to get test up again. Would doing an option 21 backup of production and restoring it test, followed by an option 22 backup restore of test get us to where we want to be? If not, what are the steps, to move data and appplications from 1 partition to another?

May be too late to answer your question. What is messed up on your test partition? Option 22 restore will only restore system information such as your user profiles, your system values, your printers, hardware configurations (like ethernet cards, dasd, etc.) and your OS libraries. It will not restore any user data - applications, data files for the applications and the like. Personally, I would review the backup and recovery book - evaluate what from the production system you want to restore, and start from there. If you have IBM support, they can help you build your restore procedure and mention any 'gottchas'.
