I don’t think you’d set it up much differently on the i5 than you would for any other type of printer device. Below you will find the description of a printer defined for the purpose of a bank teller receipt printer on a Wyse. The printer is not USB, but I don’t believe the i5 is going to care. The type (3812) is the same type we use for networked HP laser printers.

Device description . . . . . . . . : SPPTLR01P
Option . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *BASIC
Category of device . . . . . . . . : *PRT

Device class . . . . . . . . . . . : *VRT
Device type . . . . . . . . . . . : 3812
Device model . . . . . . . . . . . : 1
Advanced function printing . . . . : *NO
Online at IPL . . . . . . . . . . : *NO
Attached controller . . . . . . . : QVIRCD0001
Font:
Identifier . . . . . . . . . . . : 011
Point size . . . . . . . . . . . : *NONE
Form feed . . . . . . . . . . . . : *AUTOCUT
Separator drawer . . . . . . . . . : *FILE
Separator program . . . . . . . . : *NONE

The trick is knowing your thin client 5250 application and defining it properly there.
