We have the old AS/400 I5 and are adding new network printers. We use Windows OS XP and OS 7. Our server is Windows 2008. The question is the new Canon IR 4051 will print from the operating system but will not print from the AS/400. Is there a driver that is compatible with the AS/400 to the printer? We had two Canon printers and one is working off a driver from Panasonic but this one will not. Is there another driver that will work with the AS/400?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If you’re looking to attach the printer via your network, IBM’s Information on Printers from Various Manufacturers may be of some assistance.  The Information on Printers from Canon has the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4051 listed along with possible settings.

have you created an as400 emulator session for your printer? that emulator should set as PRINTER and the printer setup of that emulator should be pointing to the canon printer.

In IBM publication regarding Canon printers, this model shows NO in columns headed LPR, PJL, SNMP, IPP.  There are many remote printers attached to our IBM i (6.1).  When all those options are "N" the printer typically will not work.  Sometimes we are able to get some reduced functions to work by configuring with a generic device description.
