As400 Nic going down randomly

We have an ongoing problem in our office for the past month. All of our users get randomly disconnected from the as400 and end up with a blank screen in client access and need to reconnect. Seemed like a network issue at first, but the cabling and switch were replace and tested. Problem still remains. I have been logging ping responses to the nic on the as400 and see that when it goes down its for about 5 seconds and then it fixes itself. We are running v5r3. Has anyone seen a similar issue like this?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If you have hardware support for your system, place a service call with IBM. If you don’t know how to check, they can walk you through service logs to possibly determine the issue.

If the AS400's network connection's aren't dropping then the issue probably not with the server. Years past I can recall PC issues similar to this. Typically patching the client Access software on the desktop gets you through the issues. IBM will want to patch you first before they get into the log files to debug the app. You could also have a bigger network issue like Spanning Tree failures. Get someone from your network group to scan the network with Wireshark or another great monitoring tool. Once they get a look at your network traffic they can confirm if the issue is bigger than first expected.
