AS/400 macros
Okay the question is very simple, I know it might sound stupid. I want to create a macro on AS/400 that simply does this: When it starts, it just pastes what I had manually copied before. I know I can manually do CTRL  but is there a way to put it in a macro? thanks

Software/Hardware used:
as400 notebook

With a macro, you'd need to press the keystrokes to run the macro every time you needed to paste. Would that be less troublesome than pressing keystrokes to paste? . You can edit a macro with Notepad if that's what you have available. Use any editing tool you choose. That part of your question isn't clear. . Tom

On the tool bar you should have a help button .. pull down help and then About.. that will identify the software and version. There are a number of pc software products that can be used to access the AS/400. Macro programming is different in some of these products.

But note that the emulator Toolbar Help doesn't tell the version of iSeries Access if that is what is being used; it only tells the version of the emulator (which hasn't had the same version number as iSeries Access for many years at least.) It will, however, tell us what emulator is being used. Even if iSeries Access is installed, it can be an unrelated emulator. This laptop has iSeries Access, but I usually connect with a Mochasoft emulator. Macros are very different between emulators. -- Tom .

Tom Without knowing the software or emulator is there any advice on how to include a paste from the clip-board that you can provide? Phil

No useful info at all without knowing the emulator. And if it's iSeries Access, it could also require the service level since old service levels are so common and allow unpredictable results, especially after PC OS upgrades or installing on newer PCs without iAccess service packs. . A Mochasoft macro isn't anywhere as sophisticated as iSeries Access. Editing one would take a lot of study. I don't have other emulators active except for iAccess. Editing those can be much easier because the macro language itself is fairly readable. . Tom
