I have set up my own macros at work so I can just press one button to run the command... but my issues is it lags and sometimes locks the program up and causes it to quit... Is there a way to keep this from happening? Could a cheap keyboard cause it to lag?

Software/Hardware used:
as400 claims entry program

All a macro does is save you keystrokes. Are you trying to run an interactive command? If so, there may be an object lock or file contention with another application causing the lag. Check to see what is running on the I-Series.

No it is not the keyboard.
If you have any ENTER keys in the macro, it could be just system response time.
I have that with some of my macros.

also, if you recorded the macros, the program might have added waits to the macro.  you can open the source in a text editor and remove them (if you have your session set to allow type ahead)

If you need to enter the same name and address information the screen should be programmed with a sellection key to select and "pull in" the information for you. Then every entry will be from a central data base. (until the company moves!)
    Good Luck!
