There is a job running which is in error, I cannot dump it and also do not have any authority to debug it. What should be my approach?

What is the error?

What symptoms are you seeing?
Is this a batch or interactive job?
If there are CPF messages, they will guide you
All work on an IBM i has a joblog, at some point this job will have ended. find the joblog and see what it tells you.

How, specifically, is it in error? Is there an error message requiring a response? Is there a job log and/or program dump produced from the error?

If it is your responsibility to solve the problem, you need to get authority to be able to debug the job

That depends on the error you are facing. If you are getting error at some step to skip that and excute next command you can give G answer. IF you are getting error of record lock or object lock, then check for WRKOBJLCK *LIB/OBJ , and then give ans as R.... if you are getting decimal data error u have to dump the job surely and you have rectify error and then re submt the job

What error are you getting and what options if any are you allowed to take? It could be a number of issues from simple to complex. If you do not have the authority to the code then contact the programmer or user who last created the object.
