We have an AS400 account that is used for FTP files. This account password has expired but the owner of the account does not want to change the password at this time. Is there a way we can force the system to remove the password expire message? Can I change the PWDEXPITV field to *NOMAX, and will this remove the password expire message so that the user can use the previous password?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If you are asking about an AS400 USRPRF, you can do CHGUSRPRF xxxxx PWDEXP(*NO).

Or are you asking about the passord you need at the target system of the FTP process? If it is on someone else’s machine, you cannot control that.

Are there other attributes of this profile that are somehow important to this FTP process? What is special about using it? Perhaps alternatives can give the same results if we know why. Also, if the password is expired, what difference does it make to the owner if it's changed? -- Tom

I was not talking about this option: ,Set password to expired . . . ., ,*NO , ,*SAME, *NO, *YES   The account had this option already set to *NO but the account password had expired and I wanted to see if I could force the system to remove the password expiration.  So I tested this over the weekend and it worked. Solution:  I changed this on the user ID profile and it worked: Password Expiration Interval (*NOMAX)   This will remove the password expiration and allow the current password to still be used.
