Can you provide me the steps for rollback plan when performing the firmware upgrade? We are planning on a firmware upgrade from SF240_320 to SF240_417 on our V6R1 system. And we need to submit the plan to management for approval. I need the steps for rollback in case of any problem.

It's unlikely anyone can tell you the steps. You haven't told us nearly enough for us to guess what steps you'll take. I think I can guess that you have POWER5 hardware because you did tell us you're running level SF240_320, but that's about the limit of any guesses.

And it's not clear at all why you'd need a "rollback". It'd be far more useful simply to fix any resulting problems after an upgrade than to try some "rollback" steps (whatever those might turn out to be). Why plan on doing a much harder procedure with more possibilities for problems?

You probably need to run through the Server Firmware and HMC Code Wizard for POWER5 Systems steps to determine what steps will fit your environment. If your system isn't POWER5, then you should run the wizard for whatever you do have.

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for your reply. And yes we are running on POWER5 hardware.

The problem is we have to provide the rollback procedure to the management for going ahead with the firmware upgrade.

And i did not get any rollback steps even from IBM for this.
