AS400 Development/Testing

AS/400, Application development, IBM Marketing Sound Off, Printing, DataCenter, Web development

Hi,

To minimise our laboratory costs, I'm looking at a solution, which will allow me to test our products with an AS400 using the latest OS400 versions, without having to purchase an iSeries. Crazy? Maybe!

SAP provide MiniSap (Windows based), which is a basic version of their system, but can be used for testing and basic training. Is anyone aware of a similar solution for the AS400 environment? If there isn't one, can anyone suggest a cost effective method of simulating an AS400 environment, so I can test our products and ensure they work correctly?

Thank you for your time,
Mike.

Not sure if you are a development house or not, but if you are, IBM has programs where you can lease(cheaply) a box for dev purposes. Contact the IBM Business Partner division for specs..

timeshare400.com will rent you space and time, as I recall, for application development and testing.

California Software Products used to have a product called Baby/400 that (I think) did what you are looking for. The successor to that product is called InfiniteiSeries.

You may want to check out IBM Virtual Loaner Program. It may have what you need.

Although it is not generally recommended we survived for several years by using an entire set of duplicate libraries and carefully monitored library lists on a single machine. Of course you would have to have the additional space and sufficent memory.
