 AS400 Compaitible HP printers
We are looking at purchasing a HP Office pro 8500. HP says it is compatible with our Iseries (525) and yet it is not listed on IBM's list of printers(??) Is anyone using this printer with the Iseries?

Software/Hardware used:
Iseries 525

Answer Wiki:
If the printer supports PCL 5, connecting it to the iSeries as *IP connect output queue using HOST TRANSFORM will work. Be sure to specify the "Destination options" if you want the normal AS400 page count operations to work. Output queue . . . . . . . . . . I looked on the HP web site for the printer in question and I believe you are referring to the HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One. I did not see that it mentioned PCL5e or PCL6 for its printing stream. It might work but I would check with the supplier about return policy if it does not meet your expectations. I prefer printers with the PCL5e or PCL6 print stream.

Check out this IBM site. It contains info on attaching tons of printers to the iSeries. Notice the link to HP printers.
I did not see your particular printer but there may be a similar model listed which will work.
