As long as autocfg is on, the system will configure it for you.
We have a 3573-TL with 2 tape drives and I setup drive 1 for production and drive 2 for test.
Is this what you're trying to do or are you swapping back and forth?
We will be swapping back and forth.

If you live outside the United States, by submitting your email address you consent to having your personal data transferred to and processed in the United States.
But if you really want to create the config yourself, do a rtvcfgsrc to a QCLSRC file, add the pgm and endpgm stmts, compile it, send it to the new system and run the pgm.
Since you’re switching back and forth, don’t forget to vary off the device before you switch over via A/B switch or manually moving the cable back and forth.
If you try the RTVCFGSRC, just remember to verify the RSRCNAME is the same as your production box and the test box. If it is not, just update the CL with the correct name.
