There is no such thing as a V5R6 version of the O/S. You may be confusing it with a version of whatever ERP package you are using or some other software package you have loaded on your machine.

To find the actual version do this:

1.) Type GO LICPGM on the command line and press enter.
2.) Take option 10.
3.) Press F11.
4.) Look for a line that looks something like this: 5722SS1 V5R4M0 L00 i5/OS

Not sure where you’re getting the V5R6 info from but here is a link to IBM displaying the current versions starting with V5R1:

The the risks and challenges depends on which version you will install on your “clone”

I am sure V5R6. Cloning in the sense, libraries and objects are to be moved. Users are also included. If it is done, what will be the risks and challenges in the newer version?

I have to agree that “V5R6″ makes this difficult to answer. (I’d guess that V6R1 is meant, but it might just be a “V5R4″ typo.) Further, it’s not clear what is being “cloned”. Is the system image being cloned? Would IBM program products be expected to be part of it? Are just some application libraries being cloned? Are users included? What is the expected business result?
