AS400 Job Classes are passed to jobs through a subsystem routing entry. Job Classes provide the job with runtime parameters such as priority, timeslice and CPU, Memory and storage maximums. There are also Java Classes that do sort of the same for Java runtime parms and user classes that provide a standardized level of authority for a new profile.

And you create i5/OS classes by executing the CRTCLS (Create Class) command.

BTW, new i5/OS classes are very rarely created on small to medium sized System i systems. The classes that come with the system are usually more than enough for most sites. Larger sites tend to have both more interest and more expertise in managing ‘Work Management’. If you don’t know the subject, there’s a good chance of wasting your time; so smaller sites don’t get the same return on their efforts, generally.
