Hi Now,

There can be several reasons for this delay.

1) Check to make sure that when your Backup is running, no active job or user is in the system, who
might use a file, library with exclusive use, causing your Backup to sit and wait until this file or library
is free. There are cases where the option in the Backup is activated to skip objects, which are being
used during the Backup, but that’s not why we backup our system.
2) During your Backup you can use WRKMEDIBRM with F11 so you can see if all objects until that point
are saved. If you find objects, which are not saved, try to find out why and which other user, job,
application was using that object.
3) It can be your media(cartridge) which causes the problem. Check in your BRMS reports for errors on
that media.

Try to do this on your next Backup and see if something comes out.

Good luck!

Regards,
Roy

Use WRKMEDBRM then select option 13 next to the tape used for your backup. This will list all libraries saved at what time. Compare it with a normal backup and you will see when the delay started at which library at what time,. This will narrow your search as you can check what was running at that time.

You've to check also if there were some changes in the libraries saved, the amount of space used, for example.
