Hi Guys, My Client business taken over by another company. We did changes( branding changes, entity changes etc) to the application as per Buyer requirement. But now the Buyer wants to come out of transition period and for this he is planing to clone the application to thier own server. Can anyone please let me know the steps involved in this( Administation point of view and programmer point of view).

Version will be the same.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If you want to run this application “as is”., just port it to the other system.
If the objects (programs, files, etc) are in specific libraries, do SAVLIB on the source system and RSTLIB on the target system.
If you have hard coding for USRPRF, OUTQ, business rules, etc. you will need to make those changes on the target system.

If this is a new machine and you want to copy the complete source system to the target box, take option 21 from the backup menu and use that to restore on the target system.

If the target system is at a lower release level than the source system, get it up to the same level before you do your restores.

Not sure what you are asking. Is the application to be ported to a different AS400? Is your concern the hard coding you may have in the application that must be modified?

CharlieBrowne's question about what worries you is important. We don't know anything about the application, not even what it does. We have no idea how tied it is to a particular system. Is it hard-coding that you are thinking about? That is, is the system name included as a literal constant on display files? Or do you have library names coded into programs? Or do you have reports that have constants that need to be changed? If not, then what is the concern? Why would it be difficult to save the libraries from one system and restore them on the other? Where is the difficulty? What will fail? Tom
