What emulator are you using? If you're using iSeries Access, your users can have the 'URL hotspot' option enabled through Edit-> Preferences-> Hotspots... and setting the 'Execute URL' check-box. Then you can simply display the URL almost any way you wish and your users can execute it in whichever way the '3-D Buttons' check-box is set. If set, a 3-D button is displayed and can be clicked. If not set, they can double-click the URL. Other emulators might have similar functionality, but you'll need to look into their documentation. If you can't rely on emulator type, the STRPCCMD command will work with most TN5250 emulators. Send the appropriate command with the URL to the PC and a browser should execute the request. If STRPCCMD can't be used, you might use RUNRMTCMD instead back to the PC. A REXEC service must be installed and active. The iSeries Access for Windows Remote Command service can be installed for this. Be aware that no matter how it is done, it can take some work. You are asking for a way to have one system (your AS/400) cause another system (some user's PC) to run a function. In order for your user's PCs to execute orders from a remote system without supplying some kind of security credentials, you are by definition violating security. Don't expect it to be easy under all circumstances. Tom

This is the right way or not …? There is no way we can know. We have no knowledge of your environment nor of your users. If it works well, then it's "right". If it doesn't work well, then please describe why it is a problem and we might be able to suggest changes. Tom
