Currently, our configuration meets or exceeds our needs at the times. Essentially, we are at the level where our current technology is sufficient so we aren’t rethinking anything. If that changes, and there is a decent chance it might, then I’m sure it will be an issue.

    Usually power and cooling comes from a different budget than storage gear. Obviously if whoever I'm working with has hit a power/cooling bottleneck, they would look into ways to fix that, but most companies are nowhere near this stage.

    I'm interested in the question, but I don't know if I understand it. My company does infrastructure assessment, planning and design for data centers. We are very interested in trends that affect power and cooling requirements. Your question seems to imply that new storage technology is becoming available that requires less power (and thus less cooling). Is that correct? If so, then of course we will want to ask our clients about whether they will be or can be shifting to the lower power systems.
