Backup & recovery
I'm using ARCserve 2000 Advance Edition. Recently backup failed - message something like "4 Directories 0 files backed up to media" - Before backup is normal, failed since several months ago - the backup path is from another sever, select from ARCserve 'Network' tree - the backup path machine does not install open file agent

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

It’s possible that the files/directories were being accessed bu=y another process at the time of the backup. Do you have the Open File Agent installed?

It’s also possible that there is a problem with the tape media: when was the last time the tape was replaced? When were the tape heads cleaned?

Have you looked at the system logs to see what process (es) may have been running when the backup failed?

Another couple of things you may want to check. If you don't use the Arcserve Agent on the remote server, you have to assign a login to the session. Also, have the permissions on the directory changed? It is possible for Brightstore to be able to see the directories but not traverse them. Most of the time, like the previous post, when I'm unable to backup files, it's because the file is in use.
