Anyone using Single Copy Template for mail?
I have been looking into the Single Copy Template feature of Domino 6/7 and have been having a hard time finding any kind of reference from others using it. If you are using SCT (or stopped using it!), please share your experiences: -How many users do you have on SCT? -Have you ever run into a support problem due to SCT? -Did you observe any performance gains due to SCT, as described here: http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/abstracts/redp3681.html?Open We have tested it with a couple dozen users for a few months without issue. Enabling SCT for all would yield over a 10% increase in usable space (100MB quota) for our 4000+ users, and based on the redpaper I believe we could see some signficant performance boosts as well, but don't know a good way to test for this. I was cautioned by an IBM support rep about possible risks due to dependency on the single template, but I don't think this is much different than our dependency on our Domino Directory...how often does that go corrupt and unusable? In addition, my mail users are clustered so I feel that reduces the risk. All feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Answer Wiki:
SCT is one of those great features Lotus touted in R6 that no one implemented because of the problems with it. The fact that support is cautioning you is probably due to the fact that they know it's not widely used. It's been error prone since it came out. It was difficult to back out of in the past - I think they added a parm to "load convert" to help with that but then failed to document it. The last thing I heard (with 6.5.4 I believe) was that Out of Office disabled itself every night for SCT users. If you have multiple languages be careful too - but if it works in your environment then go for it. Just roll it our slowly and be sure you've tried reverting to the original and test wiht Notes and iNotes if you use both.
