There is a totally Free EMULATOR based on dynamips - GNS3. You will need to supply the IOS you wish to use, and set the idle-PC value appropriate for each one to conserve PC resources..

Maybe you can use Packet Tracer, from Cisco, for practice. You can simulate network configuration with Cisco devices, almost all of them. It can be used for learning for CCNA or someother use.

Great point Pop59: Packet tracer 5.3.1 can actually be usefull on working towards the CCNP Switch exam as well..
