Any way to prevent IP conflicts by plugged in devices?

IP address
Hi Guys We have a network with around 80devices, all PC's are on DHCP however we have some people (mainly engineers) who sometimes come in and plug there laptops in however they forget sometimes they are on DHCP. Question was is there any way to prevent this from happening? not sure if there are any special switches that would have this functionality or any other ideas... I was thinking to configure DHCP so that it pings before assigning an IP address but will still not help in majority of cases as sometimes the laptops have the same IP as routers/servers and also some have already been handed out by DHCP.. Thanks! :)

Any way to prevent IP conflicts by plugged in devices? ...however they forget sometimes... ...is there any way to prevent this from happening? Start charging them for any time lost in recovery. If there is no control over devices being connected to the network, risk of employment status is about the only choice you have. Otherwise, don't allow unknown devices to be plugged into your network. Require them to be plugged into an isolated segment first for verification. Tom

or how about for laptop u open like xx IP's (depending on how many laptop users you have) and only allow them to use those ip so that it wont conflict with your DHCP?maybe reserve those address for them too.
