the option ‘G’ ...

Since neither 'continue' nor 'retry' quite fits with 'G', I wondered if it was a trick interview/homework question. If it isn't, and the OP is simply trying to learn more, then some return dialog would be useful. Option 'G' takes some background to understand how it works with the Cycle.

the option 'G' is not very useful in modern RPG programming. It goes back to the traditional RPG Cycle. This is where a file is declared as primary, and is automatically read record by record. Every line of the Cycle program is run over those records (with some conditioning, of course.) 'G' basically said "I acknowledge the error, skip this record and go on with the next one."
Unfortunately, in a modern program, this would be like restarting the program, and that may not be possible or even desireable at this point of the processing. You might get duplicate transactions, you might get errors trying to write duplicate records, etc.
Even if you know that the program is safe to restart, it is probably better (in my opinion) to take a 'C' and cancel, and then a 'R' to retry the failed line in the CL or to resubmit it if no CL.
