Any of hundreds of ways are possible. Why is there a need to know how it was done, who is "this person", what is the specific evidence that 'this person' was the one who did it and what does it have to do with a game? -- Tom

My question is where did the app come from? Did it come from a valid source? Is it new to the market? Any negative user feedback on the app? How do you know your information was compromised and if so what info did the get? If you are downloading apps most are tied to your e-mail/ Gmail or Google account for update notifications. Maybe that's where the info came from.

The app game is Carls pool. I know the person obtained my information because they called out family members names in the chat lobby. I want to know how in order to protect my information.

Knowing how it was done won't tell you how to protect yourself. Protecting your information has no necessary relationship to how any information might have been taken.

To protect yourself from rogue games, don't play games on the same equipment that you use for any personal activity that you want to protect. If you are entering user IDs or passwords for personal e-mail accounts or bank accounts or other accounts on that equipment, then don't use it to play games.
    .
If you are not an Android programmer, you have no idea what any "game" might be capable of doing. To protect yourself, don't mix important assets with unknown programming.
    .
Now, we have no information about any stolen data except that you say that names were sent by someone into a chat room. Names can be retrieved from hundreds (thousands?) of sources, almost none of which have any relationship to the 'game'.
    .
But it doesn't matter as far as the 'game' and 'protection' are concerned. Keep them separate, and the game can't get access. The only better protection is not to play games over an internet connection at all.
