Amazon EC2 environment for my data/cloud security
According to the Amazon EC2 environment details, there's a lot flexibility to create my instance with specific configurations, boot as many as I want, stop and secure data in the boot partition, etc.

But what if I wanted to develop something for a month, subscribed to EC2, developed in pay per use model: How secure is my data? How can I periodically download data into my own machine? How can this development be integrated with general development lifecycle like unit tests, build & deploy, etc?
