I have a requirement that, in a country related code file. (CntryCode, Name, AccessNo) if these are three fields... and I would like to pass the respective country code and get only the required country values. But this is also taking time when using OPNQRYF with QRYSLT country code. Is there any alternate way to decrease the overhead issue? -Var

Biggest performance boost will probably come from stopping the use of OPNQRYF. It's old and effectively obsolete. If you need it to run faster, then stop using it. It possibly is already doing the best it can. . Use something more useful for this century such as SQL with appropriate indexes. OPNQRYF should have been dropped by the time the year 2000 ended. . Tom's right .. OPNQRYF isn't going to be the fastest way to filter the data. Perhaps you can tell us how you use this data .. ie: RPG program and if there is a logical file that could be used to access the data.
