 Allotting IP address to AS/400
HI any body tell me how an IP address is assigned to a AS/400 machine?

An IP address is "assigned" by your network group, you can work with them if you prefer a certain range of numbers. You then configure your iSeries with CFGTCP to use that address.

Hi thanks for your reply. I am working in an environment where i need to install OS/400 on many partitions of a Power system. My doubt is after installing the OS how an IP address be assigned to that? thanks again….ram

-Goto WRKLIND type enter.
- it’ll show all the Ethernet lines which is connected to the box and chk which ETH lines are connected to the network and the Mbps details from the network team.
- After recieving the details goto step 1.
- opt 2(change) give the details like below which u got from the network admin
Ethernet standard . . . . . . . . : *ALL
Line speed . . . . . . . . . . . . : *AUTO
Current line speed . . . . . . . . : 1G
Duplex . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *AUTO
Current duplex . . . . . . . . . . : *FULL
Maximum frame size . . . . . . . . : 1496
Maximum controllers . . . . . . . : 256

then goto CFGTCP opt 1

Opt 1(add) give the IP address provided by the network admin. here and realted details.
