Lotus Domino, Platform Issues
I have a user who's Notes 6.5.4 client has suddenly started marking all incoming mail as "read". The user maintains he has not made any changes to the client configuration and he has no rules running on the client. I can't work this one out and I have 500+ users in the UK who all seem fine (many on Notes V5) - it is probably something very simple , but I need help on this one please!

Check the Unread Mark Options on the Advanced (propeller beanie) tab of Database Properties. Look and see if "someone" has disabled unread marks. -Jim

I have seen this occasionally happen in our environment as well. It usually is caused by the user accidentally sizing the preview pane to a very small window size. When this happens, the client preference to “Mark documents read when opened in preview pane” kicks in without the user realizing it. The only way to tell if this is happening is to pay close attention to the direction of the arrow on the preview pane top border. If the arrow is pointing down, the preview pane is active even if it is not large enough to show anything inside it.
