 All exe files couldn’t Run!!!
Hi,in one of clients system all exe files for example Word and Outlook and AntiVirus and Excel and all of other exe files couldn't run and I get this message: "Can't find the file "path and name of file",make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available." But ehwn for example I double click on a doc file it opens this file in the word!!!!!!!! Maybe this is virus but I can't run Antivirus(symantec corporate version that updates from server),the client's Os is win2k pro sp4, Could you please help me? Thank you. ---- Regards Mahnaz

I checked the path every things is correct but no one of exe files and some of the options in controlpanel such as System,Mouse,Display,Add/Remove Hardware,Internet Options … doesn’t work and this message appeares:
“Access to the specified device path,or file is denied”
I don’t know what can I do,it’s urgent!please help me.

1. Start the computer in safe mode.
2. Go to control panel.
3. If everything eg System etc work properly then you have a virus.
4. Backup your data.
5. start computer in safe mode with networking and connect to the internet.
6. go to http://www.pandasoftware.com and run active scan.
7. scan your computer and save the report generated at the end.
8. keep us posted on what happens next. good luck.

Did you by any chance just convert from FAT32 to NTFS. NTFS tracks access rights for each folder and file – FAT32 does not.

Right-click on any file/folder and in the Properties dialog click on the Security tab. It is too big a subject to detail here so you will have to explore/learn about access rights and user groups.

I have actually seen this before. A user had reassociated all the EXE file extensions to open with some non existent program. I beleive this was on an NT or 2K workstation…maybe your client is just as ‘crafty’
