After using XP Pro recovery CD

Hi, After using the recovery CD on my IBM Thinkpad R40 laptop and reloading the programs, I have some improper file associations and some programs load slow. Is there some way under XP Pro to check for corrupted files and replace them and correct file associations globally or how would that be done? Please note: this recovery CD has some diagnostics, but I'm not sure which ones to use for this and how they would be used to fix the problem once found. Also, rerunning the CD doesn't sound good because it will wipe everything and start from scratch. Looking forward to your input. David

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

As far as the file type associations go, I’ve used this script to reset them in the past “http://dev.remotenetworktechnology.com/files/RestoreXpFileAssoc.cmd.txt”.
As far as the files you want to check/replace you can run “sfc /scannow” from a cmd prompt.
